'Painting With Light'
Molnar — who also holds an undergraduate degree in religion and philosophy — founded South Light Studio in 1988 emphasizing sacred art. A self-described image-maker, he refers to his work with glass as “painting with light.” His comprehensive body of works encompasses both traditional formats and expansive innovations. Many contain blown and fused glass elements. The artist achieves his distinctive style using diverse techniques integrating a subtle sense of color. The result — always sophisticated and articulate — conveys a simple elegance.
“My philosophy,” says Molnar, “is to start with the internal history of a specific sacred space and then to expand on and enhance it through my work. This requires an attitude of listening. Overall, it’s a responsive process, an integral part of my convictions.”
